KirdowSimple.nvim
Simple colorscheme for NeoVim by Kirdow.
Everything is plain foreground on plain brackground. The only colored syntax element is comments, which for light theme uses the Visual Studio 2013 Express comment color, and for dark theme uses the Visual Studio 2017 comment color. Both of which are green.
Two variants:
- Dark Theme -
kirdow-simple-dark, white on black (alias:kirdow-simple) - Light Theme -
kirdow-simple-light, black on white
Terminal transparency is enabled by default.
Note: Due to my personal kitty config using #000000 and #ffffff for transparency, the opaque background for KirdowSimple defaults to #010101 and #fefefe rather than pure black or white.
For the most part, there's practically no visual difference between them. The colors can be changed through the opaque_background option, see Configuration.
Requirements
NeoVim 0.11 or newer. Targets 0.12.
Installation
lazy.nvim:
{ 'https://git.ktnuity.com/kirdow/kirdowsimple.nvim', priority = 1000 }
Packer:
use 'https://git.ktnuity.com/kirdow/kirdowsimple.nvim'
vim-plug:
Plug 'https://git.ktnuity.com/kirdow/kirdowsimple.nvim'
Usage
:colorscheme kirdow-simple
:colorscheme kirdow-simple-dark
:colorscheme kirdow-simple-light
Or from Lua:
vim.cmd [[ colorscheme kirdow-simple ]]
Configuration
Call setup before loading the colorscheme. All options are optional.
require("kirdow-simple").setup({
transparent = true,
opaque_background = {
dark = "#010101",
light = "#fefefe",
},
})
vim.cmd [[ colorscheme kirdow-simple ]]
transparent- Use the terminal background instead of a solid color.opaque_background- Background colors used when transparency is off.darkapplies tokirdow-simpleandkirdow-simple-dark,lighttokirdow-simple-light. Either key can be omitted to keep its default.
If you use Vimscript, the transparency setting can also be set through a global, which takes priority over setup:
vim.g.kirdow_simple_transparent = false
Toggling transparency
You can toggle transparency on the fly using Lua:
require("kirdow-simple").toggle_transparent()
You can also use the command :KirdowSimpleToggleTransparent. Both flip the current value, clear the global override and reload the colorscheme if one of the kirdow-simple variants is active. The function returns the new value.
It can be bound with a keymap like this:
vim.keymap.set("n", "<leader>tt", require("kirdow-simple").toggle_transparent)
To check the current value:
require("kirdow-simple").is_transparent()
This returns the global override if set, otherwise the value from setup.
